Tree Line (Season Series)

This is one of my favourite tree lines – I began photographing it during my 365 Project, and continued to photograph it after I completed my 365 Project.

When I got into photography the one thing I really noticed was the change of seasons, and how the weather and a season can completely transform a view.

I didn’t really notice the change, except when we went from summer to winter. The months and the seasons just rolled into one…

So I have now chosen this view to photograph as often as I can to capture the subtle changes which are so easy to miss…

The Date

If you take a look at the date each photograph was taken on, it is surprising how quickly the change can appear.

One of the biggest changes I noticed was in the Summer 2011, from June 20th, to July 27th the crop growing in this field shot up out of all recognition.

And again, later on in Autumn you can see what it looks like shortly after harvesting the crop, and a few weeks later how the grass has begun to grow.

Camera + Lens Details

95% of the time I used the same equipment, which is:

• - Canon EOS 5D Mark II
• - Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM

The closer range photographs (Summer – June 20th & July 27th) were taken using the Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 L

Processing

I process all of my photographs in Lightroom 3.

Depending on the particular season I use different Lightroom Presets from The Bell Sisters (my website where I sell my processing products)
