The other day somebody asked me a few questions about photography,
I had actually blogged about them on my website, so if you want to read them as well, here are the 2 links:
- Question: How long did it take you to get past the beginner phase?
- How do you pick 1 Photograph of out 100′s of Photographs?
But the thing that surprised me was, here was someone asking questions, obviously wanting to learn… however after sharing the above blog posts, and answering some of the other questions, they went on to say:
“Thanks. I’ll take up (photography) in the New Year.”
There isn’t anything wrong with waiting… I didn’t ask why they wanted to wait, but what struck me is, this is somethingI don’t do.
I’m a Go Getting Girl
As I’ve said before, I’m the kind of girl who sees something she wants and goes and gets it – if I don’t know how, I find out how.
I can’t imagine waiting 4 months to start something. Unless it’s a seasonal thing, and you literally can’t start until the new season.
But the wonderful thing about photography is you can do it wherever and whenever.
Why Wait?
So I wanted to ask you, are you waiting to start something? If you are, why wait?
The difficult thing is to actually START. Whether a new sport, challenge, language etc. But once you’ve actually started, it is so exciting – especially when you begin to see your hard work paying off.
Start Today
Don’t wait for the new year… start today, believe that you can do something with the next 4 months, instead of waiting.
When I heard about the 365 Project (which I completed a month ago), I started almost immediately – in August 2010. Not January 2011, or 2012. I couldn’t wait to get started!
It’s also possible that if I had waited, the initial excitment and feeling would have disappeared and it would be just another thing on my wish-list.
Don’t wait, take on whatever challenge you have in mind and go get it!
Olympic Athletes Don’t Wait
I find huge inspiration from athletes – they commit to their goal, i.e. going to the Olympics.
They don’t wait for the right time, they don’t let anything hold them back, they really reach for that gold medal and because of that, they break world records and do incredible things.
Olympic athletes are the types of people I try to copy – i.e. if they don’t let anything hold them back from winning, I try to apply the same attitude to my photography. The results, in whatever form, are spectacular.
To help you get started…
So to help you get started…
If you have not bought Photography Tips eBook, then buy it now.
Copy the Olympic Athletes worldwide and start. Don’t let anything hold you back, just like I don’t, and who knows where you’ll be in 6 months, a year…
I hope you’ll take on this challenge, because I know how fantastic it feels when you begin to achieve your goals.
Until next time… Happy Snapping!
